Enjoy a rare, behind-the-scenes glimpse into the history of boatbuilding on Nantucket, from nineteenth century whaleboats and catboats to the wooden Alerion-class of sailing sloops and fiberglass sportfishing boats being produced on island today. Learn about the mechanics that underpin successful boatbuilding at every step along the way. Celebrate what was for many an elemental aspect of everyday life that is deeply woven into the fabric of Nantucket’s unique character.
           
Permanent and temporary exhibits focusing on Nantucket and topics relating to the Coffin School are on display throughout the year.
